In February 2026, Elvis Presley was back on the big screen, and this time it wasn't an actor in the jumpsuit. EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert is Baz Luhrmann's concert film built from restored footage of Elvis on stage in the early 1970s. Here's what the film is, what's on the soundtrack, and how to bring a piece of it home.
What is EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert?
After making the 2022 biopic Elvis, Baz Luhrmann went back to the archives. EPiC uses footage from Warner Bros. vaults, including material shot for two 1970s documentaries: Elvis: That's the Way It Is, filmed around his 1970 Las Vegas residency, and Elvis on Tour, which followed his 1972 US concerts. The footage was restored, with Peter Jackson's Park Road Post Production working on the restoration, and it's combined with previously unseen 8mm film and unreleased audio of Elvis talking about his life.
The result isn't a documentary in the usual sense. It's closer to sitting in the front row at the International Hotel in 1970, watching the most famous entertainer in the world at the height of his powers.
When was EPiC released?
EPiC opened in IMAX on 20 February 2026, followed by a wide cinema release on 27 February 2026, distributed by NEON and Universal Pictures International.
